Performances of Grinded Moringa Seeds as Bio-Coagulant

Moringa Oleifera Details:

Moringa seed is a naturally occurring coagulant. The coagulant of such kind may not replace synthetic conventional coagulant like alum but be an alternative at times of crisis. It grows abundantly in tropical and subtropical regions of the world and grows fast. In recent years, the water clarifying ability of the aforesaid material was found due to positively charged protein called Moringa oleifera cationic protein. Dry seed is needed for the process. Moringa oleifera produces hanging fruits which is three sided brown capsule containing seeds of approximately half a centimeter. Its seed coat is removed and later the seed is air dried. Then it is grinded and powdered before application.

Process of application:

Waste water should be collected and then optimum amount of powdered seed (by Jar Testing) is to be mixed with it homogenously. The flocks will appear. Then the mixture should be kept without any disturbance for 1 hour approximately for settlement. Flocks of suspended particles created by the powdered seeds will precipitate and later if the water above is filtered then improved turbid water can be achieved.
